They found him in a shed. Months later, Sparks came back to say hello.
Two Missouri utility workers reunited with the dog they helped rescue after months of veterinary care and rehabilitation.

Two utility workers found a severely malnourished dog hiding in a shed near a work site in St. Louis. Months later, the animal they helped rescue was well enough to meet them again. Between those two encounters came veterinary treatment, rehabilitation and a new name: Sparks.
KBSI reported on October 16 that Ameren Missouri workers Ed Schmidt and Anthony Hall had reunited with the dog after his recovery. The rescue took place during the summer. Stray Rescue of St. Louis later named him Sparks in recognition of the workers.
The decision that interrupted an ordinary workday
Schmidt and Hall learned that a stray dog had been seen wandering near one of their work sites. They searched the area and found him sheltering inside a shed. According to KBSI, he was severely malnourished and in critical condition when discovered.
The workers contacted Stray Rescue of St. Louis, gave the dog food and stayed with him until rescue personnel arrived. Their search brought him out of the shed and into the care of an organisation able to arrange treatment.
A name linked to the people who stopped
The rescue organization called him Sparks in honor of the utility workers. It is an unusually fitting link between the job that brought Schmidt and Hall to the area and the animal whose emergency interrupted it.
The part of a rescue that happens out of sight
Sparks' improvement was not an overnight transformation. KBSI describes months of veterinary care and rehabilitation before his full recovery. The public reunion came after that longer period of treatment, rather than immediately after he was carried away from the shed.
The reunion brought that longer recovery into view: the dog who had needed urgent help could now meet the two men who had found him. KBSI credits veterinary care and rehabilitation with his recovery.
The reunion was the milestone—not the whole story
For Schmidt and Hall, the meeting was their first reunion with Sparks since the rescue. Stray Rescue credited their compassion and quick response with helping give him another chance. The moment also connected two stages of the same story: the brief encounter at the shed and the sustained care that followed.
The KBSI account does not announce an adoption. For a later update on Sparks, readers should check Stray Rescue of St. Louis directly.
