Kacey Musgraves has 16 more songs coming. Four are entirely in Spanish.
Tex Mex Tapes arrives January 15, with Intocable and a live mariachi collaboration on the track list.

Kacey Musgraves has another album on the way—and four of its songs are entirely in Spanish. Middle of Nowhere Vol. 2: Tex Mex Tapes is scheduled for January 15, 2027, through Lost Highway, extending a project that began eight months earlier.
The 16-track collection includes a Spanish-language version of “Uncertain, TX” with Intocable. Two songs, “Weekend in Texas” and the Norteño standard “Mi Tesoro,” were announced for Thursday night, October 22. The album itself is a January release, not a surprise record already available in full.
A second volume, not a deluxe footnote
The announcement describes 16 tracks of new material, making this more than a handful of extras attached to an existing release. Its title keeps the Middle of Nowhere connection while giving the second volume its own Tex-Mex identity.
The track list moves between English and Spanish titles, with “Caballero,” “Tú Solo Tú” and “Before the Next Teardrop Falls” alongside “Hard Conversations,” “Denim on Denim” and “Figure Out My Life.” Titles and collaborators establish the advertised direction; they do not tell listeners how every unreleased arrangement will sound.
Intocable appears on the Spanish version of “Uncertain, TX.” A live Mexico City recording of “Tú Solo Tú” features Mariachi Oro de América. Those are specific collaborations, rather than a claim that the whole album is a duet project or a translation of the first volume.
The calendar is unusually crowded
The new-album announcement arrives while Musgraves is still touring. Her October 22 stop was scheduled for Oakland Arena, with the tour’s final Seattle dates at Climate Pledge Arena on October 26 and 27 described as sold out in the announcement coverage.
That creates two different clocks for fans: the closing days of the present tour and a record arriving in the new year. The announcement does not establish a new 2027 tour, so January’s album date should not be mistaken for a ticket-sale notice.
Musgraves also has five Country Music Association nominations. They include Album of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year, plus Song and Music Video of the Year for “Dry Spell.” “Horses and Divorces,” with Miranda Lambert, is nominated for Musical Event of the Year.
The awards are scheduled for November 18, with the broadcast advertised for 8/7c on ABC and Disney+. Nominations are not wins; their immediate significance is that the next release is being announced before the awards cycle around her current work has finished.
What listeners can actually put on the calendar
January 15 is the full-album target. The October 22 evening announcement concerns two preview songs. Anyone checking a streaming service before those releases appear should distinguish the announcement time from availability in their own territory.
The label frames the record around solitude, contentment and the beauty of being between life chapters. That is promotional context, not a verdict from listening to an album that has not yet arrived. The more concrete hook is already clear: a substantial second volume, four Spanish-language songs and collaborators that make the Tex Mex subtitle more than decoration.
